 Introduction

    Hi, my name is Keeler Larick. I am currently a student at UAF after transferring from the University of Redlands. I currently study business administration but I'm currently looking into changing from that major as it was a bit of a last-minute decision during my transfer. My current hobbies are quite limited and I spend most of my time with friends when I'm at work or working on classes.

    I have an-on-and off relationship with art. I take enough interest in art to have periodic spurs of creative enthusiasm where I try to learn to draw or paint but never enough interest to keep me going for more than a month. That amount of interest has also never been enough to encourage me to seek out art exhibits of any kind. The times I do find the motivation to draw or engage in some other form of creative activity I do find a great deal of satisfaction in it, and I hope to one day have the discipline and dedication to carry on with that hobby for a longer period of time.

    The web content I decided to link is a YouTube channel called Solar Sands. His channel covers a wide variety of topics but most are centered around art or art themes. I think he has a very impactful and serene presentation style and many of video essays have stuck with me.

  Art Analysis of The School of Athens The School of Athens  by Raphael Sanzio (1509-1511), Vatican City     Raphael's fresco, The School of Athens , captures many of the essential aspects of the Italian Renaissance art style. The perspective and foreshortening of the fresco are used to bring the viewer's gaze to the main point of the art piece: Plato and Aristotle. Sfumato is also used all over the painting to aid the foreshortening in creating the illusion of a three-dimensional space on a flat wall.     The School of Athens  is one of a set of four frescos that were created to represent the "four branches" of knowledge. Art analysis of Wanderer Above the Sea Fog

Art analysis of the  Wanderer Above the Sea Fog Wanderer above the Sea of Fog  by Caspar David Friedrich (1818) in Germany      This painting has been floating around in my mind since my early childhood (albeit in different forms). My first exposure to this painting came in the form of the in-game rendition of it in the popular game Minecraft. Like many young adults these days, it was one of the first games I had ever played, and memories from it have stuck with me for what has now been nearly half my life, and this painting is among those memories. While admittedly the Minecraft version of the painting does not come with much detail I think it captures a surprising level of the essence of the original painting. The posture and coloring alone communicate the solitude and the stark nature of the wanderer against a background of natural colors. Art in the Great Depression

White Angel Breadline , by Dorothea Lange (1933) taken in San Francisco       Early modern period artwork and the great depression that influenced much of it is full of society's self-reflection on its place in nature as well as the industrial revolution.      The Great Depression was a time of widespread severe economic strife in the 1930s United States. Naturally, as art tends to express the experience of a society or group, art came to reflect those economic struggles.     White Angel Breadline  is a photograph taken of one of the breadlines that were common during the Depression. The photo shows both the young and old crowded together for what food can be provided. The pattern of the photo is broken up by a single man facing the other direction, which creates a focal point on him. Normally this kind of pattern breaking may be to show a difference, but here it just further illustrates the message present in the rest of the photograph. The man is wearing a old and very worn hat,
